Running back Brandon Scharlow had TD runs of 9 and 3 yards as well as running in both point after touchdowns to give the Aledo Middle School 7th-grade C team a 16-14 victory over Burleson Kerr.
Scharlow’s second touchdown gave the Bearcats a 16-0 lead with 2:07 left in the third quarter.
However, Kerr then made it interesting with two scoring drives to close out the game.
The lead was cut to 16-8 after a TD and two point conversion a long kick return then a 25-yard touchdown pass with 1:06 left in the third quarter.
Burleson Kerr then got the ball at the Aledo 5-yard line midway through the fourth quarter after an interception. Burleson was able to get the TD run, but defensive back Sam Newburn intercepted the PAT pass attempt to keep Kerr from completing the comeback.
