Ladycat volleyball gets ready for 2018 season

The Aledo Ladycat volleyball team scrimmaged three teams as they move through a busy week of preseason practice.

While no score is kept in the scrimmages, the Ladycats looked sharp in the live competition against teams from Brock, Glen Rose and Arlington Lamar.

The Ladycats, who return much of the 37-14 team that went to the state semifinals last season, enter this year ranked No. 1 in class 5A of the Texas Girls Coaches Association volleyball poll.

The Ladycats have another scrimmage Monday at Southlake Carroll before they open the regular season at 6 p.m. Tuesday at home against Waco Midway.

Unlike most years when the volleyball teams plays against the same district opponents as the football team, the volleyball team will be in District 4-5A with Abilene Cooper, Abilene Wylie, Wichita Falls and Wichita Falls Rider. District 4 will be in Region I. The football team will compete in District 5-5A.
