Ladycats earn victory over Midlothian Heritage

Midlothain Heritage  gave Aledo its best shot, but after dropping the second game the Ladycats bounced back for a 26-24, 18-25, 25-19, 25-17 non-district volleyball match Friday in Aledo. Sophmore  hitter Lilly Taylor led the Ladycats with 16 kills, while junior Evelyn Torres added 14.

The teams traded points for much of the first game, but Heritage took a 23-21  edge and the momentum. However, Maggie Wackerhagen’s ace gave the Ladycats a 24-23 lead. A block Daleigh Ellison closed out the first game. Heritage came roaring back in game two, using blocks and some big spikes that got their crowd involved. Heritage used the momentum to jump to a 21-14 lead and closed out the second game 24-18.

Game three was tied 10-10 before the Ladycats went on a 7-2 run to take command. Taylor had several kills during the run and Torres served an ace. Torres closed out game 3 with a kill.

Heritage scored the first four points of the fourth game before the Ladycats went on a 9-5 run to take its first lead. With Aledo holding a 16-15 lead, the Ladycats went on a 6-0 run to take command.

Aledo improves to 17-13 with the victory. The Ladycat varsity is off until next Friday when they play Rockwall Heath at TAV in Carrollton.

The Ladycat JV team also won, 25-13, 25-17.
