Aledo tailback Gavin Olenjack ran for three touchdowns and the Bearcat defense recorded two safeties and returned a fumble for a touchdown as the 8th Grade B team shut out Everman 36-0 Tuesday at Aledo Mddle School.
The Aledo defense got things going when safety Sawyer Storck sacked the Everman quarterback for a safety with 2:03 left in the first quarter.
The Bearcat offense needed just five plays after getting the kickoff following the safety to tack on a touchdown. Olenjack scored from 5 yards out to give Aledo an 8-0 lead on the final play of the first quarter.
After the Aledo defense forced a turnover on downs, quarterback Brant Tubbs made it 14-0 with his 9 yard run.
Defensive end Caden Petty tackled the Everman quarterback for a safety to make it 16-0.
A 34-yard pass from Tubbs to Bryce McCain set up Olenjack’s second TD of the night, a 1-yard plunge that opened the score to 28-0 just before the half.
Midway through the fourth quarter, Tubbs had a 33-yard run to set up Olenjack’s 6-yard TD.
The final Aledo score came when Gabriel Sherrod scooped up a fumble and ran 30 yards for the score.

Aledo swept all three games from Everman, with the A team winning 22-8 and the C team winning 34-6.
All three teams are 1-0 after their victories to open the season. Next week the eighth grade teams will play at Weatherford Hall Middle School, while the Aledo seventh grade teams will be at home against Hall.
